Let me start off by saying that there is no magic formula. I'll say it a few more times in this "getting a job" section and, now, repeat after me - there is no magic formula! Decide right now that you will work hard at finding a work from home medical transcriptionist job - as hard as you will work for the company that will hire you. Then follow the steps below, heed the warnings and, most importantly, take your time, because it will save you time in the long run if you do thorough research now.

Ready for your job search? First, you will need a resume. It doesn't matter if you are fresh out of high school and looking for your first job, or if you have had a dozen careers and multiple college degrees - you have to present this on a resume to a prospective employer so that they know exactly who they are hiring.

Here are some medical transcription resume tips that you can keep in mind.

Now that you have an effective, up-to-date resume, do you know what kind of work from home medical transcriptionist position you are interested in? Or do you only want to work at a hospital or medical office? If you are not sure yet, go back over the job options. Explore the page on medical transcription employment for tips on finding the companies who are interested in hiring a work from home medical transcriptionist. I don't want to limit you to only the ones I know about but you can check out some of the links at the bottom of this page for legitimate jobs. There is no "Da Vinci code" that is going to reveal hidden secrets to you, but there is a world wide wealth of information for you, starting with an online search.

You'll be looking for a company that accepts your level of experience or, if you have no experience but do have a certificate from a transcription school, then look for a company that accepts recent graduates from that school. Needless to say, your choice of school becomes very important at this point.

Also, don't waste your time applying to companies that say they want 5 years of cardiology experience when you might have 1 year of psych experience. Here are some

Apply for a job. Now that you've done thorough research and know what type of work from home medical transcriptionist position you want, it's time to apply for online medical transcription jobs

Let's continue. You've done your research, sent out your resume, and are starting to get responses - either by email or telephone call.

If you get an email that says "Sorry, you're not what we're looking for at this time", don't worry about it. A little sting to the ego, but nothing you can't get over, right? Move on. Honesty is better than being stung with false acceptance. Unfortunately, spammers and scammers are out there. So beware!

However, thinking positively at all times, what do you do when you are contacted (usually by email) by a company that says they are interested in talking with further about employment? Here are some words of advice on how to handle an interview. At this point, if you are given an offer of employment, you need to be ready to make a decision. As the person looking for a job, you have to walk a fine line between taking your time in making your best decision (assuming you get more than one offer) and giving the company an answer before they hire someone else. So, if you are waiting on another company, be sure and ask when you have to let them know - do you have an hour, the end of the day, 24 hours to decide? Or perhaps you had done your research, applied, and got accepted by the best company and you can give an immediate "yes". How great would that be??!!

It is extremely difficult, after all the angst and effort it takes to find a good job, to tell the company "no"! If you don't have a good feeling about it, but you desperately need a job, I understand the compulsion to go ahead and accept the job. The goal of all the preparation you should have done prior to this is that you will have targeted companies that will be a good fit for you. Just realize that you never know how a company will be once you actually start working so, at this point, it becomes a leap of faith. It could be your dream job or that dream could become a nightmare!

It helps to keep in mind is that you can always "unleap" that leap of faith. Yes, it is a pain starting the job search all over again, but if you give it a chance and it's just not what you thought it would be, find another job and chalk it up to experience.

Let me end by saying, once again, that there are no secrets and no magic formulas. Know what you want, be organized, and don't give up. And good luck!
